is this 1985 gem - the second album of the fall's beggars/brix era - the greatest fall album of them all? there are almost as many answers to that as there are fall obsessives, but a few of us residents believe that this dense, angry yet bizarrely catchy set might just represent the best fall line-up at their peak.

this is a place where a clockwork orange, one of can's lead singers, a trancey near-instrumental about los angeles and two songs about decorating which almost resemble a concept (!) meet, mingle and find unlikely common ground in the mad mind and mighty mouth of mark e.smith.
